Gibraltar Holiday Rentals is the brainchild of Jackie Hobbs, an ex-administrator from the UK. Jackie lived in Gibraltar for 10 years during the late 70s and early 80s on a yacht in Marina Bay with her husband Mark and small daughter.

When her daughter Shelley returned to the Rock over 10 years ago, Jackie and Mark soon found themselves visiting several times a year, but found that hotels were too expensive for frequent visits, and there were practically no holiday apartments to rent. The problem was solved when they bought a stunning executive apartment in Eurotowers.

However, the apartment lay empty for many months each year, and for financial reasons they had to let it out. “We then found that we could not visit whenever we wanted which frankly defeated the object, and so we decided to try holiday lets.” The apartment was posted on a UK holiday website, and they soon became overwhelmed with bookings from ex-services returning to the Rock, UK based Gibraltarians returning to see family, frequent visitors, and first-time guests. However, Jackie found that she just needed to book her own times to visit, and apart from the considerable extra work she had to put in to keep the lets running smoothly, the problem was resolved. Indeed the income from the holiday lets far exceeded anything she could have received from long-term or corporate lets. In fact one couple were so impressed by the set-up and earnings potential that they bought their own flat and asked Jackie to run it for them. And thus Gibraltar Holiday Rentals was born.
